1” square, barely hangs in the NBS large measure, good condition.
I’m not sure what to call this example of the ceramic buttons made in Oakland, California in the mid-20th century by Samoth Ceramics. It could possibly be representing an elephant? Or an entity with a beak? So many of the Samoth buttons are wacky, weird and wonderful and that’s why we love them! I Wish I could tell you more about Samoth but unfortunately very little is known about them despite numerous searches for information on their history. The buttons are typically molded and hand glazed with a flat back and a glued-on plastic shank. I’ve never seen one with a back mark.
